Okidoki, it's now my holidays and I have a LOT more free time on my hands to plan a leri fest. I will also need the usual amount of helpers, but since I know that my timezones are off i'm also looking for a kind of co-runner this year, someone preferably from america or europe who can run the fest while I get some sleep. Here's the order I want to fill:
Second-in-command (1 place - closed! )
Galena
Third-in-commands (6 places (for the one timezone) - closed!)
Hania
Sher
Kjarthis
Abernta
Jedd
Heike
(The order is filled! )
The former group will pretty much be doing what i'm doing in the other timezone, overseeing things, knowing what events are up and giving out instructions to other helpers accordingly.
The second-in-commands will also be overseeing things, but may be running events such as the auction, guess who and other games where only a couple helpers are required. they may also be used to help keep track of things in the races.
The third-in-commands will mostly be asked to do crowd control (not that it will be needed I'M SURE), will be stationed at various points along the racetracks when race time comes near, and will possibly be asked to run games such as the auction or similar games if the second-in-command is afk or missing.
For people of these places, I will do my best to reward you as best I can for your services. Candy/candied apples will be one of your rewards at the end, as well as 10k gold for every 3rd in command, 15k gold for second in commands and 20k gold for co-runner, 5 DTs for every 3rd in command (if wanted), 7 DTs for each second in command and 10 DTs for the co-runner. Along with these rewards you'll get positive attitude and respect from all attendees of the festival.
Shortly I will post the events that will be running, many of them will be taken from last year, but there will be a couple new ones (such as Guano!). Remember that most (if not all) of the games will be run twice, one for each timezone, so if you miss out on one you may be able to catch the other! More on that later.
A date will also be worked out in the near future, depending on how quickly we fill those helper slots up.
CoS and CoF are supporting the festival (although i will need to see heike to renew the original agreement with jedd).
I apologize for any inconvenience in delays this festival has had, school is very pressuring at the moment and i'm trying to balance out both. I am hoping that with the combined effort of your generous patience and some good organization we can get this festival to be the best one yet!
Best regards,
Dracilus, Leri fest organizer. |

I can run something. Just keep me awake long enough in Oberin. Shouldn't be too hard. I am enjoying bears |

On behalf of the Mirith Vanguard, it is my greatest pleasure to announce that the MV will be hosting the dragon luring event!
Please, bring your wives, bring your demos! The greatest spectacle SE of the tree maze!
Hope to see you all there!

Okidoke, well, since I got 4 (within the job structure I made) helpers within three hours, I find it fitting to be able to put up the events. Be aware that these are not in order, the actual schedule will come when I get 6 helpers in total. As for the date, once I get about 9 helpers i'll be able to knock down that wall.
Before we get to the events that should be running (and which I will update as new ideas come along, etc etc), I will put up here the positions which have been filled and by whom, along with special guests. I will confer with you, hania, on what you'd like to run.
Second-in-command: Galena
Third-in-command: Jedd
Third-in-command: Kjarthis
Third-in-command: Sher
Third-in-command: Abernta
Third-in-command: Hania
Third-in-command: Heike
Special guest performance: Cassandra - Lore lady
I will edit this in to my original post as well.
Now, for the events, I am hoping to have: (Remember these are not in any order!)
Sheep-eat
Guess-who
Auction
Guano
Races
Find the rogue
Tag (PvP game)
Hi-Lo
Roserade
HD hunt
Scavenger hunt
Trapsweeper (if GMs are willing to set it up. If so, we want the grid to be about 10 bags by 10. Can be more or less for different difficulties and should probably be experimented with first.)
The raft race
Real life competiton (to which the prizes will be awarded at the leri fest, gryff will post explaining the game.)
I will explain each of these games, except for some of the more obvious ones. Since Guano is quite big and takes a little while, i'll just bring up the thread which fully explains Guano.
Sheep-eat! - This is a slightly biased game, seeing as fighters and rogues cannot participate... They will have their share of fun too though, so don't worry. Each person tames a sheep, and takes it to the docks at lerilin. Someone then lures and SS to the docks and steps on land, leaving the SS to wander around the space between the two wharves, where all the sheep are. The first sheep to be eaten wins, and it's owner gets a prize.
Guess-who - The name kinda explains it, but anyway... One person will think of an obie personality, and will give a hint as to who that person is (for instance, if I was thinking of Neblin I could say "This person is famous for their relationship with a certain creature", or something along those lines. Try not to make it too obvious! ). Others will then try to guess it. If no one can guess it the person may give another hint, or elaborate on their previous hint, until somebody guesses the person. Remember that for games such as these we'll use a buzzer system, the first person to say "Buzz!" will be the first to try and guess he person. The first person to correctly guess the person wins a prize.
Auction - I don't think I need to explain this one.
Guano - I will bring up the thread which explains Guano shortly for those of you who are not familiar with the game.
Races - Self explanatory. Remember that there will be three races, each with varying difficulty. Not all of them will be the same as last year's, so don't necessarily think you know all the tracks yet.
Find the rogue - Again, pretty self explanatory. A rogue will be asked to stealth somewhere in Lerilin of their choice. If this person is a helper, this is even better. They can have contact with the organizers via AIM, but none of the participants, otherwise it is obviously unfair. The job of the participants is to bump that rogue. The rogue is not allowed to move from his selected position the whole time and must stay within the confines of the town. The participant who bumps the rogue gets a prize.
Tag - To be played at PvP. One person is in, and has to try and 'tag' (kill) someone else. Once he has done so, that person will revive and will now try to tag someone else. The effect is cumulative. By this I mean, if someone tags another, both of them will be in, rather than the tagger transferring from one person to another. Last person to stay alive, or who is still 'out' is the winner and receives a prize.
Hi-Lo - A favourite gambling game. The runner of the event will have an X - a bag or some defining feature at least - marked upon a spot (if a GM helps out here it'll make it much easier), and have a person about 5 (it might be 6, i'm not entirely sure here, will ask someone) tiles away from that X. For each tile the person walks, the runner will roll a d20. He will then call out "Hi, or Lo?" Depending upon the number, the person will give their answer. The aim of the game here is to make your statement true. For instance, if I were to roll an 11, and called out "Hi, or Lo?", the person might, in this case, call out Lo. That person would then roll a d20, and if their number is lower than the 11 rolled by the person, they would win and proceed to the next tile, before the process starts again. If I were to roll an 11, however, and the person said Hi and rolled a 10 or lower, they would lose and the next person would have a go. In the event of a tie (that is, both people get the same number), the process, or simply the player's roll (whichever you want to choose) is done again.
Roserade (Shh, I know what it is!) - The runner of the game will give a rose to someone in the audience. They will then give a hint about that person and the rest of the game is pretty similar to Guess-who. The person that correctly guesses the person with the rose is the winner. Remember, this game will use the buzzer system.
HD hunt - It's pretty simple. Lerilin fest is renowned for it'sgenerous givings of HDs. Basically, groups of people hunt at the cem until someone finds a HD. That person receives a prize and keeps the HD. In this case, the person who strikes the final blow gets the skeleton. If you are unsure, do a dice roll. Several runners may also be there to help out in disputes (hopefully there aren't many, if at all!).
Scavenger hunt - The Oberin version of the well known party game. We will ask you to strip yourselves of the items we ask you to find. We will then send you out in to the forest to attempt to find these items, mostly reagents and such. First person to do so will win and the others will be called back (using AIM, please only play this game if you have a method of contacting me or any of the helpers).
Trapsweeper (special) - It's basically an oberin version of Minesweeper. It is still to be tested out a bit, but the basic principle is as follows. There will be a series of bags, at the moment the standard is about 10 by ten. It will then work like minesweeper, although skulls will be used as numbers - however many skulls there are on a bag indicate how many traps that skull is next to (for instance, 3 skulls on a bag would indicate that that bag is next to 3 traps, etc etc....) - Remember, the gold on each bag is nothing, it's only to hide the skulls and the traps and so on.
The raft race - Using oberin's famous raft glitch, i'm presenting a game (with credit to phinn for thinking it up) known as the raft race. It involves two people on a team, and only one raft to race with. It's reasonably simple. There will be a race (over water, I'm thinking of an appropriate course) that requires one person to walk on water with the raft. then, they have to give their raft to the other player, and that player moves until they have to give the raft back. the race is won when BOTH applicants on a team have crossed the finish line. There will be a prize for each member of the team that won the race. Teams of three or four are allowed, but since there is only one raft it is impractical. If you win, however, depending on the situation I may increase the rewards for each member of the winning team. It's definitely a game that focuses on teamwork.
This game may be made in to a GM version with slightly different rules if the GMs decide to intervene. That is really the only way this game can be played actually, so if we get GMs coming in to help out, this game can be played.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I may put up more games and more rules as time goes by. For now I hope you are satisfied with the events. If you have any questions about the events, or suggestions about what events to put up or how to change some events for the better, please contact me in game or via AIM. My AIM is OberinDraco for those who do not know. Helpers may put up their AIMs (If they wish) as well for people to contact, seeing as I am in different timezones to most Oberin players and may not be able to be contacted at certain times.
For reference, once I get 6 helpers in total (so 2 more people) I will put up the schedule itself. Once I get 9 helpers in total (that's 5 more) I will put up a date.
Regards,
Dracilus, Leri Fest organizer. |

Okidoke, Hania, I'll put you down as a third-in-command.
Please be aware that Jastherin is no longer able to co-run the festival and therefore the spot is re-opened. I will edit these things in to my original post. |

My second-in-command is... Galena!
I'm really looking out for a co-runner right now. If you're interested, I'd like you to choose a couple people that you really trust and ask them to be second-in-commands, third-in-commands, and so on. I'd rather you choose them because I want them to be people YOU trust. I am almost at my quota in terms of helpers, so I am especially eager to start getting the other timezone slots filled. |

Hiya Dracilus. I'm not sure what date you have planned for this but I assume it's within the next month or so, in which case there's a really big chance I can't make it. I haven't been around in game for some time now for various reasons, and it's sad that I have to miss this. Either way I hope the Circle of Friends will be able to maintain their sponsorship for the festival (in terms of funding, prizes, and possibly help). I'll find you on AIM or something in the distant future and we can work out the details |

Ahh, jedd. no, it's not a pproblem. I've spoken with heike and we've worked it out. CoF is happy to support the fest. Also, if there's any chance you ccan make it i'd love you to help out, or simply just attend, whichever suits you. It looks as though I won't have enough helpers to do a full 24 day but I will see what I can do to get most people involved.
Anyway, I'll look for you on AIM. |

Alrighty! Seeing as Heike is my sixth 3rd in command, I have 7 helpers, which is actually what i need in total. Seeing as I want more guests than helpers, I decided 6 would be enough, I'll just do the one shift and try to be awake for the whole thing (seeing as i'm going to run it in the american timezones if possible).
So, the schdule will come soon, but for now, I have something EVEN BETTER. A date! It will be the 2nd/3rd of june, which is my saturday/sunday, and most people's saturday. In obie time, this is:
year 437, sleeping moon, day 210, time of day 23:59.
This is about 5 weeks from now. In the meantime I will be putting up a schedule and more games. until then... Hope to see you there!

Mix-up with the time! The real obie date is:
year 437, sleeping moon, day 241, time 12:03
It may have revising as multiple people test it out ha. If you'd like to test it out, put that time in to your obie time converter and convert to real time, then tell me what the real time is. If it's the 2nd of June or near the 2nd of June (because different timezones will affect the time of course) then it should be accurate. |

Leri fest helpers! I am calling a meeting to discuss the events and prepare a final schedule and setup for the festival! I would like this to take place in leri in about 2 weeks and 5 days. In obie time that is:
Year 437, sleeping moon, day 158, 10:01 (roughly!)
That is, I'd like to see Galena, Jedd, Kjarthis, Hania, Gilante, Heike and Sher at leri on the above date. I will be running you through the events of the fest then (and a second time just before the fest, but PLEASE come to this meeting) and we will be discussing related articles.
Thanks,
Dracilus

Okay! I have had a meeting with most of my leri fest helpers and we have been nutting out details and features of the fest! We have constructed our final schedule, which i will now post HERE. If you do not want to see this schedule, please do not continue to read this post. However, since I have already posted what will be happening, I see it fit that i might as well give you the schedule as well. So, here it is!
1. Races
2. Guess-who
3. Sheep-eat
4. Auction
5. Find the rogue
6. Lore (to be confirmed)
7. Hi-Lo
8. Raft race
9. Roserade
10. Tag
11. The one you've all been waiting for... At the heart of our fest lies Guano!
12. Scavenger hunt
13. Trapsweeper
14. HD hunt
Thankyou for your patience in the matter of this festival. It is next weekend on the date scheduled (you can see it in one of my earlier pots, please do not mistake it for the meeting date which has now PASSED) and I hope to see you all there! This one is the biggest and bestest (yes it is now a word! ) festival yet, so come along and enjoy the ride!
Regards,
Dracilus, Leri fest organizer |

Darn, my time has been gravely mistaken! I'll have to calculate a new time...
Basically, it's 7 and a half hours from the time of this post (IN REAL TIME), so look at the top right date and time and you'll know.
Hope to see you there! *wipes brow* |
