So I looove Obie

So we start a petition

Jinker is stubborn - doesn't like Moola gifted on him - fine UNDERstood.

But a petition - where we Oberinates "gift to play" - heck we're mac peeps. - Suck it up PC's

we can make magic.

I suggest we - make a "gift" to play - and really... reading Lynlyss - all the cheesecake - call for help!

so Jinker - love your Zombie T-shirt (all of Africa should buy)!@@

we gift ...so we get on hunting - suck it up - who says you should carry this cost ?Smile

Progammer of AI - let's get on with it.

All in Petition...

Let's get it sorted - fore with.

Terra xoxox

Ps - what I'm doing in the interim is designing my own signature:)
PPs I can't design - hehe - photoshop stupudity

Come on Jinker - needs Us. - But he can't make a profit-
But WE can pay our own way -Oberin

Horrendous thought - Jinker is more than responsible for loads of hours and hours of fun for me - at his own expense. - Not cool - Go Buckeyes!!

so we sort - we are brilliant peeps - we can aid to contribute in secret.

I can't work without Obie - it balances my madness.

One year - 19th March 2011 - I expect pressies. But not from Tallon or Kookai. They spoil me already.

Petition - pay your way - start now - lets sort.

xoxo Terra

I could donate the money I am spending above and beyond my usual irresponsible amount on cheesecake and booze. Oberin gives me more pleasure, more sense of community, and more contact with real people for less money.

I have a thought. I spend some of my time and energy helping people that need it. People spend quite a bit of time and energy helping me when I need it. It sure felt good recently when someone that has been there for me through thick and thin found themselves needing immediate help and they called me to provide. Sometimes it is nice to be able to repay somebody when they need it. Jinker and all the Oberin staff have certainly provided a crutch to help me limp through life a time or two. I would appreciate a chance to say, "thanks" in a meaningful way.

Does this count as signing the petition?

I don't have much, but willing to make a contribution. I'm a bit of a loner in RL, but have made a few friends here. Facebook games are all the same and not much fun and WoW is too expensive.

Jinker has multiple reasons for not wishing to accept contributions related to the game, including issues relating to the ownership of Oberin that are outside of his control.

I think he knows that many people would be more than willing to help out. Smile The sense of community is one of the great things about Oberin.

So, how about a once a year merchandise sell? It would give everyone a chance to get some cool stuff from their favorite game, and it would give some money for the game for things like operation fees and possibly even upgrades to the server. I am sure if everything is explained to Glenn, he will be willing to OK it. The extra from each year could even go to Glenn.

When I get the skills, I'd love to do some modelling and make creatures, dungeons, etc. ^^

Atm I have 3 finished D&D maps and have almost finished the 4th. And this is continent maps, not dungeon maps (although one of the maps i plan to do is a place called the 'sky palace', that'll probs be a dungeon map with some close surroundings, dunno yet. Oh, and I have made dungeon maps as well. A lot of my continent maps also refer to many, many modules and campaigns that are just waiting to be explored!)

I understand (I think) the dozens of reasons Jinker has for not wanting to accept money, ownership of the game included.
However, as many pointed out, it is not fair that we, players of the game, are a source of expense to him. Everyone loves free games, but there is only one person sponsoring this one.
We have had the shop open before. It's a good precedent: it solved the issue it was meant to solve, and no one ever claimed any special right because of it.
If there are issues of copyright with Oberin graphics (I have no idea if there are or not), then, by all means, put up the other t-shirt shop! It's not like you're getting money for nothing - we get the shirt, it's paid work aside from the game! Cap the number of items each person can buy. Open it only once a year. Anything would be better and fairer than what we have now.

That said, we don't even know if the source of the problem was the internet bill again (and sorry, Jinker, if it wasn't and we are bugging you with this). But it has been before, and the principle still stands: players would be more than willing to give a hand maintaining the server.

Either that, or we'll have to find out Jinker's address and send him a xmas gift every year. Razz

*agrees with Lenard because I really want more than just the t-shirt and thong I bought during the server freeze of 2008* That being said, or emoted as the case may be, I wonder if running the shop would be additional burden for Jinker. I don't think he was filling the orders himself in 2008, but I imagine the shop would add some sort of task to the time he already volunteers for Obie. So, no pressure from me on the shop, Jinker - but I will keep hoping. Very Happy

One thing we could do without giving money to Jinker directly, or have it directly linked with Oberin, and be completely anonymous is for Jinker to set up some homepage with Ads and people go there and visit the ads for which he will get money.
