Post your own list, this is mine (sorry, I got bored of writing explanations):
1. The Secret of Monkey Island, first massively selling adventure game with a graphical user interface, started the tread of being unable to die during the adventure, something many games followed such as Broken Sword or SafeCrackers.
2. Sonic The Hedgehog, first game that actively used level design in order to control the flow of each level. First game that took a console to the absolute extreme of what it was able to do.
3. Civilization II, did not pick civilizations I since that game did not start a wave such as number 2 did, while civilization one was highly innovative civilization two allowed for scenarios and modding, combined with what was then a strong strategy engine, this made it notably be one of the most popular civilization games. This in turn spun of into a lot of other strategy games.
4. Jak 2, renegade. While this game does not in itself start any new trend it is an incredibly well made game which engulfs the current trends of the time. It is a 3D platform shooter where you can raise, shoot, do missions and skateboard, set in a futuristic environment with a semi sandbox world. The general layout and structure can later be found in shooters. The game of the 2000's I personally enjoyed the most.
5. Fallout - it's fallout
6. Doom
7. Baldurs Gate
8. Ultima Online -
9. Mass Effect - First successful and more importantly fun Shooter-RPG. Game has a neat universe.
10. StarCraft - Awesome. |

1. Lord of the Rings Online. It's my Oberin now.
2. Portal 2. Loved the first game, the second was everything but better, longer, funnier and prettier.
3. Minecraft. Because it's so addictive.
4. Age of Mythology. I used to play this game religiously. I loved the premise, loved the gameplay, and I still play it now.
5. Dragon Age: Origins. It consumed my life for 50 hours, and I regret none of them.
6. Half life 2. Need I say anything in favour of this game?
7. Magicka. Because it's some crazy crazy carnage fun with the whole family!
8. Half life 2. Need I say anything in favour of this game?
9. Team Fortress 2. It's good fun, but with too many hats these days.
10. Oberin. It will always hold a special place in my heart. |

This is a good thread for server downtime. Gawr was even telling me that he had spotted some papery things with words on, called "books" apparently - good and enjoyable way to pass the time I'm told. But yes, there are some other games too, and I have included sports as I wouldn't really get to 10 otherwise.
1. Football (that's soccer to you Americans)
2. Cricket (that's sort of a bit like an interesting version of baseball)
3. Chess
4. Table Tennis
5. Oberin (overall position, though this has been number 1 on my list recently )
6. (A)DnD - (not the best RPG from a mechanics point of view, but still great fun)
7. Warhammer Fantasy Battle
8. Ars Magica (another conventional RPG)
9. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (ditto)
10. MERP/Rolemaster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Crown_Enterprises)
So, I am completely rubbish at computer/console games, love RPGs. I always resisted MMORPGs until Obie, as I knew they would take up too much time... |
