The forum account is not the same as for the game.
You need to go to the downloads section and download the game.
Then go into the Oberin folder and use the Character Creator you will find there. That will make your character account which you use to log into the game. Make sure to read the character name rules also.
When using the character creator - I suggest putting points in Resisting Magic and starting that skill at level 4. It will help you out a lot.
