I think pet speed while on "attack!" command should be changed to be the same like on guard and heel when following a player around and about.
I can already hear you... That¥s what¥s heel is for! What would be the purpose of heel! or guard! after?!? You are just lazy to press those two F keys!
Guard has no purpose as it is, except for new players who are not comfortable directing their pet on their own (maybe I could think of some rare situational use outside of that if I tried).
Heel would still have some purpose outside of switching between attack!/heel! (just for pet to keep up) - again situational, but you would still use it for example to recall pet in battle (low on mana/pet health low/pet out of screen etc.).
Anyway while I have no major issue with switching between heel and attack all the time (it¥s really just pushing of two keys), this minor change would make my playtime... better. From my point of view it would remove unnecessary mechanic while improving player experience. |

While I agree with you, that there is no apparent reason why the pet's speed on attack is slower, I would just like to add, that guard has a purpose: namely if you don't want the pet to retarget if you yourself retarget. (eg Pet is attacking a PE while you try to attack a bracken).
Also it can be nice for non-new players to have the pet target automatically on guard: why not switch between guard and attack? |
