so at this point detecting hidden is really a pointless skill, and there's almost no way to level it. So i've come up with a few ideas that might help.
Hidden Chests/Treasure:
The title in itself says pretty much it all. I know I'd rather have a chest out in the open, people thinking it's all the loot. However, if there was a hidden chest, or treasure trying to be kept secret would be awesome. I think (no idea if it's posible) but maybe have it a random spawn, like stuff on the ground in the forest. so that way you can't just keep finding the same treasure, or it wouldn't really be hidden anymore.
passageways/caves:
my idea on this is to use detecting hidden to either find hidden switches, or passageways. This could lead to special dungeons, or something relatively simple, like the queens chamber in ant cave.
hidden items:
with this, I figure an item, or different kinds of items, can be found at random in the forest. maybe something special (no ideas on this right now) or something as simple as a few extra gold pieces dropped my a creature. Maybe even find something hidden on the creature once you kill it.
A creature that can hide:
My final idea is to have a creature, similar to a bracken, as it would stay in one spot and not move, but be hidden and be able to attack, like a GM. I think it's attacks should be weak magic, like a magic arrow, or weak poisoning. Perhaps once it is unhidden by said rogue, ranger, or whatever other class has that skill, it could get a lot more stronger with attacks, maybe go even as far as casting fireballs, that way weak new players could get away if they didn't want to fight it, and the stronger players could challenge is.
Hope you guys like my idea. And please put in your own input. What you like, what should change, and most importantly what isn't such a great idea. |

As I've never had a rogue I can't address the "pointless" part. However, if you wish to level the skill anyway, I'll be happy to either hide for you, or invis my pets so you can detect them.
I would suggest the possibility of having hidden traps in some locations (perhaps not lethal ones), that must be detected before they can be disarmed. Walk over it without detecting it and you go BOOM! (ok, a little boom not a big boom as the Gambler would say). Or perhaps one or two types of higher level monsters could sometimes have hidden booby traps on their bodies after they die. Try to loot without checking and oopsie! Boom! just a thought.

| well, I mean pointless, as I have no reason whatsoever to level it. And I like your ideas. |
