UPDATED TO LATEST OBERIN AND SHEEPSHVER VERSIONS. NOW WORKS WITH LION AND MOUNTAIN LION(14th Dec - 1.22PM GMT+13)

So it is easier to find the downloads for the files i have compiled, Jinker suggested to create a new thread, so here it is.

Credits to Shogun:
First of all, i wish to give all the credit to Shogun for finding this method and in no way at all, am i claiming any of it. The only thing i have done is compiled these downloads for quick and easy setup of Oberin.

Information:

The easiest found way to run Oberin in Lion/Mountain Lion or Windows machines, is to emulate OS9 through the means of SheepShaver.

Each download comes with a setup guide (Jpg Image) and will run you through what you need to do before running the emulator. The emulator has the current update of 25/10/2012.

I have also updated the SheepShaver Clients for both Mac and Windows to the most recent stable versions. Testing them along with this new Disk Image has proven to be much more stable than previous versions where Oberin would crash out.

If you are a new User, Character Creator does work, if it says "Character Creator is currently offline" Simply reopen it and it should start up the second time. If not, try to restart the emulator.

The current version of sheepshaver will run without clogging up the system on Lion and Mountain Lion. Also has the latest version of Oberin to date which is the 25/10/2012.

Downloads:

If you have a current version of SheepShaver, i suggest to download one of these ones below.

Windows Users - 342MB's
Download
(Setup Guide located under Setup/guide.jpg)

Mac Users - 346MB's
Download
(Setup Guide located under setup.jpg)

Updated Disk Image(25/10/2012) - 334MB's
Download
(Only Download if you wish to keep your current version of SheepShaver - Disk Image Only)

Original Thread:

The original post from Shogun can be found Here and Shogun has written a tutorial if you wish to set up SheepShaver yourself.

Oh, awesome! I'm going to be switching back to Windows soon and was afraid I'd have to give up Obi for awhile.

For the people who never used classic or have forgotten since:

Drag an open folder to the bottom of the screen to create a short cut.

I have been away for eternity and only have a PC now. So, do I need to get Sheepshaver first, or do your downloads include it? Do you downloads include OS9? If you can't confirm or deny officially, could you PM me? Thanks! Would be nice to try again.

Hey mate, The "Windows Users" if the download you want to go for. Includes SheepShaver with Carbon already installed and OS9 with the latest Oberin Clients installed.

I don't have 8.5, and I'm seriously thinking we should all get together and just turn Oberin into an Ultima/Eschalon/Baldur's Gate/Talisman style board game to preserve it for all time. We could all still communicate over forums and develop some play by mail or play by e-mail rules.... Sad

What do you mean by that? The text log window, or the file?
If its the window you are after, navigate through the systems folder and find preferences, Oberin prefs, trash them then re-open Oberin (Log may have been out of view)

If its the file you are trying to open to look at, make sure it is recording the log in the oberin menu, then find a text-editor program to read it.

If you need anymore help just ask in the other forum "Me playing Oberin on Lion" thread, trying to keep this one clutter free.
