It is possible, but why would anyone want mac UUIDs? They can't really be used for anything, exposing your machine hardwares UUID number does not pose a security risk. 
Furthermore, it's the same company who offers the scanner who originally found the virus and made the alert for it, which has now been fixed in all java distributions I know of.
So, it's possible, but quite unlikely, mainly because the UUID number can't really be used for anything. |

You can also type
ls -la ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist
in Terminal and if you get a No such file or directory, you are ok. |

Are you making reference to the latest Java Security Update from Apple's Software Update ?

I prefer using the Terminal as you point out (simple and safe method), did it and the MacPro is clean  |
