In response to the posting "An Original Guild", ideas were thrown out about a Blacksmith (or Crafting in general) Guild. I thought I'd take a moment to see if there were others interested in forming such an entity. I don't have any official rules in mind, but with the Harvest Moon rapidly approaching it's been something I've been thinking about. It doesn't even necessarily have to be an "official" guild, maybe a Blacksmith Union where craftsmen could just get together regardless of their status in other guilds (I don't know how well that would work but....). If anyone is interested you can feel free to approach me on it, I'm usually in Lerilin or Andris but with the upcoming moon I might be spending time in Duldrus, or just post here!
As an opener, I'll post my current crafting stats.
Blacksmithing - 10
Mining - 9
Woodcrafting - 8
Lumberjacking - 8
Tailoring - 7
Fishing - 6
Cooking -6
Tinkering - 4

I'm glad to see this up. Orinially, if you look at history, the majority of guilds were craft based, and you can find quite a few of their charters online. I am very interested to see where this goes.

I like the Union idea. But some of us are a bit crazy with crafting.

This interstests me greatly, though I would prefer to not be tied to guild. Perhaps a workers guild beyond existing guilds, to allow specialized craftsmen to join together?
The implication also invokes the workers of the robes. A workers guild seems apt, but guild holds a different meaning of what is a "guild" in present Oberin.
So many questions, which forge would be central in the realm. What stops the Blacksmiths from formiing their own unofficial gathering? Does it have to so formal and forever as the Guild Halls as we know it?
Could there be a secreted chest for the members of the 'guild' that is not a formally programmed guild?
much interestet in this...
This could be accomplished with the recent tests of communuty chests.....
May there one day be community chests in secluded forges in the lands of Oberin.....

I'm interested in Rygarth's idea of it not actually being a formal guild. And of course community chests in those random forges. Forgetown, Gorhoran...they would be perfect places for a chest.

to go further on the thought... it would be great if there were a guild password to access the chests... (The Guild of Blacksmiths.. or some such..) Otherwise the chests would be looted...for sure
