| They can't see through invisibility though like gapers can, but there paralysis seems to last much longer. if you attack them directly with spells, they tend to cast explosion more though. |

What's to stop us doing that already? |

Jinker transformed infront of my eyes and those of Nimi, and confirmed it's at level 16
Have fun leveling? |

Anyone consider the hilarity of having an offensive end to the shapeshifting spell?
Being able to turn foes into other creatures for a short time might sound like would unbalance the game, but I bet there's a way to make it great fun without doing so.
Or... how about being able to turn your pet into a different creature to suit your current need? |

| Turning a sheep into a wolf, or vice-versa would be poetic. Turning every single Harpie in Oberin into something that doesn't make the Harpie sound would be idyllic. |

first thing i am doing when i get the spell!
i agree with pixies being a level 10 tame, because it is more for roleplaying as they see that you are a powerful druid that loves nature, so they don't mind you and are willing to be your friend.
I personally believe that in its current state, shapeshifting should be make a level 9 spell, so more can play with it, and give feedback. It has almost no use atm besides messing with newbies. I am all for its level being 10 or so when it has a real use. It could be changed in a patch that could include making poison more powerful (unless that was fixed and no one told me )
Oh, and Pixies are level 4, tamable at 10, because of thar magic and what i said up top. |

Some days back I spoke with one GM about shapeshifting. You know we were told the current shapeshifting is just a test and the result will be.... well different. Worth of the mana and DT I would guess.
Also Jinker told us he is considering removal of the spell because of graphical glitches.
_____
Anyway what I was told is, that shapeshifting will never allow druids to tank. Period.
Now what is tanking in Oberin terms - tanking means ability to survive few hits. Nothing more nothing less. Fighters, rangers, rogues and to some extent druids, wizards and clerics while wearing plate can tank.
The real difference is amount of HPs and damage dealt (also damage reduction a bit, but this is not a game where you would have to wear tank specific gear which would cripple your DPS or anything like that; the reduction ain't that much). Since fighters apart from being tanks also cause the most damage.
Anyway back to shapeshifting. My hope was that shapeshifting could add new role to druid in groups, especially in dungeons. We could leave pets home and do what plates do. Shapeshift and go spank dragon. It would not be perfect role, I would still rather see supportive caster role, but better than nothing.
Since we are not supposed to tank while shapeshifted - means we will not be able to take few hits - it gives the spell other two or three purposes:
1) Additional DPS while pet tanks (nice but not necessary, more like mana dump spell - DT dump spell :p).
2) Role playing purposes - if the spell lasts longer or lasts until cancelled (for this please make a list of creatures we can transform into, I would prefer wolf 90% time).
3) Traveling form - fire elemental to travel faster (not good idea, laaaaag, we are already fast enough anyway).
If I check the three points above I have to say the spell would (and is) cost too much mana and too much gold per cast (over 1000 gold per cast due to DT).
So if you don't plan this spell to be used for "tanking" change the cost per cast or at least, if this spell is meant for RP purpose and not for adventuring, let us choose the form (Air Elemental ugh....) and make it last until cancelled.
I'm getting easy you see? I'm fine with pixies, and all I expect and want from shapeshifting now is making it last until cancelled and allowing us to choose the form (wolf would be golden for me).
Thanks.
