I kill my first draco
published on 04.06.2010, 20:05:18. Category: no category
Today I visited my niece in Mirith - all was quiet in town, the guards seem fairly relaxed. When I got to the bridge, instead of following the road towards the magic portal, I decided to direct my steps to the north and follow the course of the river awhile - the sound of water soothes my soul and encourages reflection. It was a pleasant day, the air just warm enough to make me feel comfortable and, before I knew it, I was not far from the rock pass where sea serpents ambush incautious travellers - all of a sudden there was a heavy flapping of wings... too heavy to belong to a harpie - to my bewilderment, a forest draco confronted me. I had never been alone before with one of these creatures and I wondered whether my powers would be sufficient to prevail against the hard bites of the monster - fight or flight??? The urge to measure myself against the forest dweller proved greater than fear, so I engaged into combat.

It was a hard and lengthy fight - these creatures have an extraordinary ability to heal fast - I took a couple of vicious bites which left me bleeding heavily but, just when I thought I would never overcome its power, I managed to bring the beast down with a fireball and a punch. I fell exhausted on the grass, waiting to regain strength and thanking the Goddess for keeping me alive!

Limping badly and with my robe torn, I retraced my steps towards the road home, and it was with a sigh of relief that I came into sight of the red city walls, where I greeted the guards with more enthusiasm that usual. Tiredness was mingling with a feeling of elation - the wizard had killed the vicious beast!
