Thanks Isen for reminding me this thing exists ^^
So, yeah, people see me around less, and inevitably rumors about yet another disappearance arise. Can't blame anyone for that, tho.
So what's been going on in Stefan's life? Well, space. Literally. We are working on a space game for the Wii at work, and I've been asked (amongst other colleagues) to play as many space games as I could to grab the feeling and steal think of new and original ideas for a space game. I've been trying darkstar one, the X3 stuff, heck, even registered a trial account at EVE online, for shame.
But there's always that part of my mind that's permanently plugged into Oberin (probably a remnant from those times I'd play 24/7 ^^), and thinking about what's next. Well, there's the short term, and the long one.
The short term, of course, is the current RTQ arc I've left dormant since I was too busy and would log on at odd hours to get any IC action going. But it's still here, let's all pretend the Rift went on a summer break, and will soon come back all tanned.
Another short term issue is the last update's balance, which was most certainly shaken deep and still needs working on. For each and every class. The idea has been going around my head to run the server on "hard mode" for a few weeks, gather data and feedback, and see what we keep and what is definitely too unfair for the players. More on that later.
Then there's the long (and looooong) term, with Snow Leopard pointing its nose and the fact that, no matter what I do, Oberin's code is old and outdated and will need a complete re-haul at some point. The amount of work is huge, but I'm a deluded optimistic, and I want to do it, for the sake of being able to say one day "man, OpenPlay sucked." :P
Point is, I might not be around at times, I might not visit the forums often, answer to PMs, or even show up at all, I'm still around, my motivation for Oberin is intact, and I will get the job done.
And if you're not down with that, we've got two words for ya...
