Everyone can hold a shield, but its proper use to deflect swords, arrows, jaws and claws has been raised to an artform amongst fighters. Those who have learnt to parry blows at higher levels can avoid large amounts of damage their juniors could not, merely by the correct use of the shield or the haft of their polearm.

Fighters are able to perfect their use of parrying, rangers can have a fair skill in this field, rogues and mages have no skill at all in parrying.

Active Uses: None.

Passive Attributes: Reduces damage taken while a shield is equipped.
