Item
Types
There
are two basic categories of items in Oberin. There are commodity items and unique
items. Logs are an example of a commodity item. Every log is considered to be
the same. Because of this, they are grouped in the inventory display. The quantity
will be shown before the item name. On the other hand, a unique item, such as
a sword, is treated a bit differently. Every sword is not necessarily the same.
Some have been forged by a more skilled blacksmith, while others might have
sustained battle damage. Because of this, each unique item is displayed in its
own inventory slot. Next to the name of the unique item is a number ranging
from +0 to +10. This number shows the current condition of the item, with +10
being the best. Items with higher numbers will perform better than items with
lower numbers.
Items
also differ in how they function. Some items, such as a heal potion, can be
used. Others, like a piece of armor can't be directly used, but it can be armed.
Still others, like a log, can't be used or armed. It merely serves as a raw
material to create other items.
